Tahoe Heat An Owen McKenna Mystery Thriller Book 8 eBook Todd Borg

I am intent on reading all of Todd Borg’s books. The mysteries are well developed and I have yet to determine the culprit until close to the end. I enjoy the now familiar characters and l am interested to see how they are incorporated into the new book. And the Lake Tahoe area is somewhat familiar so references to spots I have visited are fun.

Tahoe Heat An Owen McKenna Mystery Thriller Book 8 eBook Todd Borg Reviews

As always a learning experience with Todd Borg's novels. This one gives you much information about mustangs (the horses) and biogenetics. Previous books dealt with autism, mountain climbing, Wahoe Indian and Hawaiian traditions and much more. As usual you learn a lot about Lake Tahoe and the mountains and valleys around it. You come away with a good sense of the what to expect if you were in the area. The story has many facets with good suspense and a surprise ending.
I love Owens style, and so smooth-smart, and dangerous to him self and especially to the bad guys. Of course Spot is the hero of every book (and I admire Todd for giving everyone the business about owning a large dog) I am also glad dogs don't die, hard enough when they get hurt. I thought in the book where spot drug the lion to Owen was so upsetting that spot would do that. But as always it turned out heartwarming. I have learned so much about the Tahoe area from reading your books. Anyone who likes to hike, mountain climb, camp, or generally like the outdoors will be thrilled by your books.
Owen and Spot team up again to protect the innocent and capture the villains. Owen is hired by a wealthy young genius who fears for his life. As usual, he uncovers several possible motives and several likely suspects. The book carries the reader to a frightening, fast-paced conclusion, a literal cliff hanger.
Have to confess. Usually by the fifth or sixth book in a series I feel that each successive book begins to seem like it was written by a certain formula and I get bored with predictability. Not with Todd Borg's books. So far each one gets better and the character development gets deeper. I just finished Tahoe Heat. Tight plot. Great twists and turns. Kept me reading and turning pages as fast as I could. I can't say enough about this author. Just a really good read. And now I'm on to book 9. Actually, I trades a good review for Spot!!! I can only hope. And hope. And hope. Thinking about blinging my pooch too.
My wife and I read Todd Borg's books aloud together. It's like watching a movie together, with the obvious benefits of being a book such as reading even when the power is out ;-)

This installment didn't disappoint. I think the books get better as time goes by, while my wife disagrees and things they're all fantastic. She is good at figuring out 'whodunnit' most of the time, but not with Borg's well written mysteries. We live in the Pacific Northwest now, but spent most of our lives in the Reno/Tahoe area and just love seeing our favorite areas highlighted. This particular book opens up at one of our favorite locals beaches in Tahoe where we've spent many hours with Cave Rock in plain view.

We also enjoyed seeing all of Owens friends, not the least of which, Spot! If you've ever had the privilege of spending lots of time with a Harlequin Great Dane, you'll know that Borg writes Spot accurately and with every bit of accurate detail. Spot that makes me laugh every time. Those dogs really are great and his good writing represents them accurately and with a lot of obvious love for the breed.

In this book, I was shocked at how well Borg writes little kids! My wife and I just loved getting to know Lily.

Overall we really enjoyed the book and have two more on hand to read, and at least one more to catch up on ;)
Just finished reading "Tahoe Heat." What a surprise. Detective McKenna took a different approach to crime solving here. Instead of finding clues and chasing down suspects, he stakes out his shaky client's home on Lake Tahoe's shore and probes this wervous neck, eventually convincing him..... Ah, I don't want to give away any of McKenna's digging for a way to find out who's after his client. That's one difference between "Heat" and author Borg's previous Tahoe thrillers. The other is the terrific characterizations in this story. We have a deep view of McKenna's client as well as insights into the other key characters. I also learned why .... No, I'll let you find out what Borg has to reveal about the research being done by the firm of McKenna's client. Finally, I was enthralled with this addition to Borg's Tahoe thrillers.
Todd Borg's "Tahoe" series is a wonder. Not only 'real' and interesting characters, but well-plotted stories. The mysteries are exciting, and challenge the reader to solve-- but there are no 'cheats'-- we get the same informtion that Owen (our hero) does (no 'where was that clue?' at the reveal). Not only are the chracters solid, but their relationships work in a linear fashion throughout the series (as in, they develop, but don't flip-flop from book to book). There is also a major bonus to Mr. Borg's writings, he's a wonderful teacher. In each book, one receives an education (woven into the story, not lectured); oragami, graphology, biochemistry (in 'non-science' language), boats -- the information just keeps coming. I have read 4 of the series; all are equally good. I will definitely read them all.
