Cash McCord’s life is pretty much perfect. He owns the family ranch, loves his work, and invites the occasional cowboy into his bed. But everything is turned upside down when his brother Jack and Jack’s wife Val are killed in a car crash, leaving behind six kids.
Cash is made guardian of the children, along with Val’s brother, Brad Rafferty—a man who couldn’t be more different from Cash if he tried. A Yankee, Brad is a video-game developer who works twelve-to-fourteen-hour days at his desk. They lock horns as soon as they set eyes on each other. Neither man is happy to have the other around, but neither is willing to give up custody of his nieces and nephews.
It’s up to these two polar opposites to keep the kids together and give them a family again. But first they’ll have to keep from killing each other.

Rating: 2.5 stars Sean Michael is a bit of a hit or miss with me. This one was a bit of a miss. I usually like the books SM writes about families and children, but this one just rubbed me the wrong way. First I was bugged by Cash smoking in front of the thirteen year old. It was outside, but still bugged me. Then some of the timing of the book didn't make sense. One minute a couple of kid were sick and the next they were fine. The book seemed to fast forward quite a bit. Also, there was the cliche of the evil homophobic Grandmother who tries to take the children. That trope just seemed over done. Then it ended abruptly. I think this had the potential to be a good novella. I just think that it was rushed and could have used some more attention to detail. Personally, I would recommend reading one of the Manny Incorporated books over this one.Product details

Inheritance edition by Sean Michael Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
voluntary review of arc
Inheritance by Sean Michael this is the third edition of the book, I have not read it before so this review will not compare it to anything cause this reviewer has no frame of reference to compare it too.
Cash likes nice well hung cowboys. Jack is his brother. He has a farm and doesn’t like staying in the city. He wants to move everyone to his farm.
Brad the last five days for him have been a blur. Identifying bodies of his brother in law and sister in law then telling their six children their parents were gone.
Both men are made guardians of the children. They have to learn to get along as Brad is a city boy where Cash is country all the way.
There are many problems with this book. I felt it never came fully together for me. The kids are cute and adorable. But the chemistry between the two lovers is off for me.
For me, this is not my favorite Sean Michael book, but it is an okay one time read.
Four Twinkling Stars
SM writes so many types of MM tales, some of which are so raunchy, they could have you blushing, and then you get the total other end of the spectrum with a tale like this, that has family and loyalty at the heart of it.
The tale worked because the leads had a vested interest in the family that they'd inherited and I liked that they were for the most, entirely grown-up about things, though they did end up with an air-clearing bust-up. I liked that both were so different and so unashamedly gay and the discussion they had with their 13yo nephew was sweet, frank and need-to-know, and that neither felt the need to hide the 'them' that they were on the way to creating, from anyone.
There was a little bit of drama in this from a nasty grandmother, but it was pretty much in context with the tale and realistically resolved. The only reason that the tale doesn't end with a higher rating for me, is that it ends on what's a brief, impermanent visit to one's ranch in Texas, without any firm decisions about the kids' future or about the leads' future. Maybe that's because the ranch was in a Bible belt state in the US and it could have ended up bogged-down in stuff that perhaps doesn't belong in a MM romance novel, but this felt more like a convenient hook-up than a HEA.

I loved it. I just wish it was longer. Mr computer dude with a cowboy so good. Sad circumstances but great rewards. Totally enjoyed
This is a new edition of a 2014 book first published by Torquere Press. At only 88 pages, it’s a novella that certainly gets the job done. I, for one, would love to have seen it really fleshed out into a full novel, with more upfront about Cash McCord’s family ranch, as well as more exploration of Brad Rafferty’s northeastern WASP family.
It’s not that Sean Michael doesn’t do a good job within the constraints of the novella, but the set-up is so potentially interesting, right up to an including some more in-depth look at each of the six children the two men “inherit” from their siblings. Also, I wasn’t entirely convinced by Mrs. Rafferty’s behavior—something that certainly needed more exposition. I ended this wanting more.
Let's see Brad's sister Val is married to Cash's brother Jack, and they are killed in a car wreck leaving Brad and Cash custody of their six children ranging in age from toddler to 13.
Already that's incongruous since both parents apparently knew each of them is gay--though Cash is out but didn't know about Brad.
Well, that solves everything.
You see, this is a super hot romance that is perfectly portrayed on the cover, and superbly detailed along with some subplots--including the obligatory homophobic parent of one of the MCs.
I read this on a long flight and loved every minute of it--interaction with the kids, and each other, was perfect from the start (although they do have a couple of bumps in the road).
Would like to see a sequel. Nicely done.
